EU Parliament bans products from modern slavery

The European Parliament passed a resolution on a new law banning the import and export of products produced or transported by forced labour. Under the new rules, authorities have the right to withdraw products from the market if they suspect that forced labour was used in their production or transport.

To avoid this, importers would have to provide evidence to the authorities. The European Commission has issued a call for feedback on the ban with a deadline of 20 June; it is expected to present a legislative proposal in September.
