Revision of the Toys Safety Directive: EU Commission seeks expertise from practitioners

The consulting firm VVA Group, based in Milan and Brussels, is currently conducting a study on behalf of the EU Commission to assess the impact of a revision of the announced Toys Safety Directive 2009/48/EC. The study aims to further investigate the main weaknesses identified during the evaluation of the Toys Safety Directive, as well as to collect experiences made during the implementation/application of the Directive.

The survey is particularly targeted at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with the aim of collecting specific feedback and inputs for the assessment of the impact on SMEs in the different sectors that would be affected by a revision of the Toys Safety Directive 2009/48/EC. Topics of focus include, for example, cost and effort increases and their impact on competitiveness.

Companies can participate in the survey online via this link until May 2, 2022.

The European umbrella organization Toy Industries of Europe (TIE), with the support of national associations, has compiled instructions to assist companies with the survey.
