Teams and individuals from across the industry are triple checking their laces, supplies packs, and length of their cycling shorts this morning, as the Around the World in 80 Hours Toy Trust Challenge gets underway.
Today marks the start of an 80 hour countdown, over the course of which, members of the industry, from toy retailers to manufacturers and marketing execs will swap their desks and home office chairs for the pavement in the united effort to cover a whopping 40,075km over the next four days.
The challenge will be hosted on the popular exercise tracking app, Strava which will be tracking the distance travelled by the industry across the next 80 hours. Participants must move under their own propulsion by any means possible, as long as it isn’t motorised.
The feat is being carried out in support of two UK based children’s charities which provide essential mobility to children who would otherwise not have access. These charities are myAFK and Handclapped Children’s Action Group.
All funds raised through the event will go on to purchase bespoke mobility equipment for special children and young people who need it most and will include specialised trikes, bikes, wheelchairs and walking aids, as well as other important mobility apparatus for deserving children.
