Wizards of the Coast reveals a record year for Dungeons & Dragons

Dungeons & Dragons is bigger than ever

Hasbro‘s Wizards of the Coast (WotC) revealed that 2020 eclipsed 2019 to snag the record for the biggest year in Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) franchise history. According to WotC, more than 50 million fans have taken part in the legendary tabletop game and its extensions as the franchise hit its seventh consecutive year of growth. Sales of D&D products spiked 33% year-over-year globally, while the brand took off on TikTok with more than 1 billion views last year.

D&D will continue to expand throughout 2021 with regular TRPG releases and the release of Dark Alliance for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass on June 22. The Magic/D&D crossover will hit stores on July 16, and special events, including D&D Live and D&D Celebration, are planned for later this year.

A new Dungeons & Dragons movie directed by John Franci and Jonathan Goldstein began filming on April 29.
