Spielwarenmesse brings “Internationale Spieleerfindermesse – Game Inventors Convention” to Nuremberg

The games scene has been strongly represented at the Spielwarenmesse for many years now. To ensure that the world’s leading toy fair is perfectly attuned to the needs of the international games community, and to increase its appeal in the area of roleplaying games, it has a new element for 2022. It is bringing the successful “Internationale Spieleerfindermesse” from Haar to Nuremberg. The Game Inventors’ Fair was developed by Tom Werneck, founder and chair of the Bavarian Games Archive, whose colleague Christian Fürst-Brunner has also been closely involved in shaping the event in recent years.

The mega trend for the 2022 Spielwarenmesse: Toys go Green

Sustainability has become a highly significant topic worldwide. The International TrendCommittee for the Spielwarenmesse is similarly devoting its efforts to this development. To highlight the importance of the topic within the toy industry, the 13 members of the TrendCommittee will be focusing on this one mega trend for 2022: Toys go Green. In consultation with the experts, the team at the world’s leading trade fair has identified four product categories relevant to the trend: “Made by Nature”, “Inspired by Nature”, “Recycle & Create” and “Discover Sustainability”.

Spielwarenmesse: ToyAward with a new Sustainability category

Sustainability and climate protection are increasingly edging into focus in the toy industry. Demand for toys made from ecological materials or that encourage environmentally friendly behaviour is on the rise. In response, Spielwarenmesse eG is reflecting the topic of sustainability in the ToyAward as well. The team is introducing the new Sustainability category in time for the 72nd edition of the world’s leading toy fair (2.-6.2.2022). Entries for the coveted awards open on 1 October.

Focused expertise in toys from the Spielwarenmesse

As the industry’s driving force, the Spielwarenmesse provides expert knowledge at first hand, all year round. The ToyAcademy programme offers practical talks on current industry themes. On 15 September, the world’s leading toy fair continues its series of presentations when Christian Medelnik, Creative Director at the agency Die roten Reiter, will be speaking on the subject “I just need some moving Image! More range through emotional, informative and professionally made films.”
