A critical view of the Spielwarenmesse

from Spielwarenmesse eG

"Too complex, too big, too confusing..." – a leading international trade fair always involves challenges. But we take constructive criticism to heart and are constantly refining the Spielwarenmesse® for our visitors, exhibitors and media representatives.

The Spielwarenmesse® is too big

The Spielwarenmesse® reflects the global market – which is very diverse. Our goal is to show you the global toy market in all its many facets so that we can offer you the best possible selection for your assortment. Nuremberg is where you will find the entire mix of market leaders and start-ups, branded products and mass-produced products. In 2018, 2,902 international exhibitors came and attracted 70,348 visitors.

We are constantly honing our trade fair structure to stay right up-to-date. We carefully consider which product groups belong together from a commercial point of view to keep the paths short for buyers with special interests. That's also why we will be optimising our product group categories. If you use our online catalogue to prepare for your attendance at the trade fair, then you'll find that you've got a great tool in your hands to help you organise your trade fair visit efficiently.

The fair is too complex

Lots of halls with lots of aisles and even more exhibitors. You could easily lose sight of everything - unless you prepare yourself. That's why each and every visitor receives a free pocket plan with an overview of the halls. Moreover, site plans are handed out throughout the fair, mainly at the hall entrances. You can, therefore, see your exact location and the most direct route to the next destination. And if you want more personal information, our friendly service staff is at your disposal throughout the entire exhibition grounds.

Ideal conditions are also provided by the Spielwarenmesse® App. It contains all the features you need to find your way round easily. It will provide you with hall plans, exhibitor and product directories, current industry news and a whole lot more. With the app, you will have everything under control and will be able get to your next appointment in good time.

Travel and accommodation cost a pretty penny

These days, low-cost airlines such as Ryanair and Eurowings fly to Nuremberg Airport. In addition, some airlines now put on extra flights to the Spielwarenmesse®. Or you can choose another arrival airport and book our Deutsche Bahn savings package. The fast ICE train will whisk you away from Munich to Nuremberg in only about an hour.

Of course, hotel prices rise as soon as a successful trade fair is in town. So in order to counteract this, the Spielwarenmesse® initiated its partner hotel programme. This means that trade visitors can benefit from significantly lower hotel prices from the Friday of the trade fair onwards. Another attractively priced alternative is the airbnb platform, which offers private accommodation with a homely feel-good factor – frequently for sole use.

Seating is in short supply

Running from one appointment to the next tires your legs out. A little break in between to let your tired feet recover is a good idea. This is why we are gradually expanding the amount of seating available. You will find rest areas spread across the exhibition grounds. We are currently examining where we will put up additional seats, set up water dispensers and install charging stations for your mobile devices. This will allow you to enjoy the high score on your fitness app during a quick break.

These days, fairs no longer offer fresh impulses

At the Spielwarenmesse®, you will find more than 120,000 new products and more than 300 new exhibitors every year. You will discover the latest trends in the toy industry in the TrendGallery in Hall 3A. It also embraces the outstanding new products that are honoured with the coveted ToyAward. In addition, international speakers in the Toy Business Forum with give you inspiring ideas to make your business successful. Incidentally, the new exhibitors will be awaiting you in Hall 3A at the New Exhibitor Center and on the joint stand for young, innovative companies sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). All other new exhibitors can be recognised by the information in the catalogue and at their stand. Are you sure that you already know all the long-standing exhibitors?

How about incorporating a 'Day of Discovery' in your plans for the 2019 Spielwarenmesse®? A day that is not completely jam-packed with appointments, where you only make appointments with exhibitors that you've never met, and where you only walk through the exhibition grounds that you've never been to before. Let yourself be pleasantly surprised!

As a partner of the toy industry, we believe it's vital that we further develop the Spielwarenmesse® as a functioning exhibition platform for exhibitors and visitors. We would, therefore, be pleased to receive constructive suggestions. Feel free to contact us with your suggestions: info@spielwarenmesse.de; phone number: +49 911 998 13 0.
