Interview with Moluk: TrendGallery is expanding its range of customers

Numerous novel toys and the latest industry trends. The TrendGallery of Spielwarenmesse® offers product presentations, live activities and lectures on a more than 1,000 m² area. In this interview, Alex Hochstrasser, product designer, founder and owner of Moluk GmbH, reveals the advantages of participating in the trade fair, particularly for small and innovative enterprises.

Spielwarenmesse®: At Spielwarenmesse® 2015, your product – Oogi Family – was seen at the special exhibition relating to the "Express Yourself" trend. You've also already been an exhibitor presenting new products in the TrendGallery. How did you hear about the TrendGallery?
Alex Hochstrasser:
As a designer, I've always paid special attention to the TrendGallery or the Innovations Show of the Spielwarenmesse® before that. You can get an overview of the most exciting innovations in a compact space there. As an exhibitor, the trade fair kept us well up-to-date regarding the different possibilities and we've taken part in the new products show every year.

What further benefits did your company enjoy because of your participation?
A.H.:
MOLUK is a young label that deliberately stands out from the noisy, short-lived mass market and is working on new, innovative product ideas. Our playthings are very stripped down and achieve their full potential only in the hands of children. In the hustle and bustle of the Spielwarenmesse®, it's not always easy to come across with muted tones. That's why the "Express Yourself" exhibition was a wonderful place to present Oogi to a wider audience and to establish MOLUK as a very independent brand and think-tank.

Have visitors found you because of your product presentation in the TrendGallery and have you got new business relationships because of that?
A.H.:
We had a lot of visitors who became aware of MOLUK through the presentation in the TrendGallery and then found out more about our entire product family at the stand. Exciting contacts have thus emerged from this and we've been able to enthral customers who might otherwise not have found us.

In your opinion, is the TrendGallery a suitable platform for companies to draw more attention to themselves?
A.H.:
Yes, obviously. For small, innovative labels like MOLUK in particular, the TrendGallery is a great way to showcase new developments that would otherwise be lost in the great mass.


Why would you recommend other companies to take part in the special show?
A.H.:
The trade fair is huge. Lots of visitors get an initial overview in the TrendGallery and then seek out selected exhibitors who have aroused their curiosity. Being present in the TrendGallery increases the visibility of new products and fosters awareness of your own brand. This is of particular interest for smaller companies that can't lay it on really thick with the marketing trowel and have to win customers over to their products primarily on the basis of their quality and innovation.

Would you like to exhibit a product in the TrendGallery of Spielwarenmesse® 2016 again?
A.H.:
Our products are mostly the result of many years of development and research, so there's no fixed rhythm for any launch. But we naturally hope to once again take part in the TrendGallery of Spielwarenmesse® 2016 with an exciting new innovation.
