Gebr. Märklin & Cie GmbH is running at full steam. In 2019, the model railway manufacturer looks back on 160 years of company history, celebrates 50 years of Gauge 1 and 60 years of Minitrix, while the 100th anniversary of the "Crocodile" provides the company with a perfect opportunity for exclusive novelties. "After a successful 2018, Märklin also has big plans for 2019" said Eric-Michael Peschel, Head of Event Marketing.
The company (Hall 7A/A-51, B-58) is presenting over 300 novelties in Nuremberg to mark its 160th anniversary. One of the top highlights is the complete new construction, now as a highly detailed metal version, of the Fc 2x3/4 "Köfferli" electric freight engine to celebrate "100 Years of Crocodile 1919 - 2019". Thanks to the mfx+ digital decoder, the H0 cult locomotive has a lot of operational and sound features. The driver's cab and engine room lighting can be switched on and off digitally. The model is also available as a DC version in the Trix H0 range. The Gauge 1 SBB Historic "Crocodile" is being launched as a Class Ce 6/8 III museum locomotive in pine-green – for the price you could easily get a cruise holiday, too. For fans of Epoch 6 Märklin has already announced the ICE-4, with delivery scheduled in the second half of 2020. After all, waiting is half the fun.
PIKO Spielwaren GmbH (Hall 7A/F-50) also has an important anniversary in 2019. The company, founded in Chemnitz as "PIonierKOnstruktionen", is 70 years old – and is celebrating with a cult DR class VT 2.09 diesel light rail vehicle. The legendary "piglet taxis“ were designed and built in Bautzen. This model is a completely new construction. PIKO has another present for model railway enthusiasts in their Gauge N range - the classic DB Class V 200.0 diesel locomotive. There's another surprise in store in Gauge G, namely an R/C transmitter and receiver for locomotives. The remote control allows very easy, wireless control of trains without digital systems. Garden engines can also be run on floors, too.
The model railway company Modelleisenbahn München GmbH (Hall 7A/D-58) which manufactures the brands Roco and Fleischmann, is starting the new year with new models of popular engines. The highlight in Gauge N, Fleischmann's sole focus as of this year, is the Class 44 steam locomotive. It is being launched both as the classic Deutsche Bundesbahn version with coal tender as well as a Deutsche Reichsbahn locomotive with the typical oil firing. In 2019, Roco is promoting small engines such as the Köf III German shunting locomotive.
The accessories specialists Noch GmbH & Co. KG (Hall 7A/B-51) remain loyal to the mountains with their "Christl Hut“, the original of which can be found at the foot of the Zugspitze. The model comes with a fun gimmick: a motor-driven beer serving device that serves beer in four-four time to the crew of the Zugspitze train as it chugs past. This is a limited edition of 1000 items. As ever, Busch GmbH & Co. KG (Hall 7A/D-31) is very inventive. The German company has taken up the topical and highly emotive theme of "Cars and traffic" and produced a range of novel, matching products such as garages, traffic islands, sleeping policeman and wheel clamps to create a very imaginative scene. In this context, Busch also offers action sets such as a bikini girl at the car wash. Gebr. Faller GmbH (Hall 7A/D-50) has announced a retro filling station in two price categories for 2019. Over the past few years the company has created quite a stir with its high-priced and highly attractive building kits and is very satisfied with the development. "The market is definitely stable", said Stefan Rude, Head of Marketing and Sales at Faller. "We are very happy with the last financial year".
The Bandai Star Wars Plastic Model Kits are now officially available in Europe for the first time from Revell GmbH (Hall 12.2/P-13). The building kits of the Japanese toy manufacturers are among the best that the market has to offer for experts, enthusiasts and collectors. Star Wars Fans can also build Slave I without any glue thanks to snap fit technology.
Completely in line with the trend "Toys 4 Kidults", Ukrainian Gears LLC (Hall 10.0/D-27) has designed intricate construction kits for people who like bringing models to life in order to understand how cogwheels and drive belts work. The U-9 Grand Prix racing car is a model that goes back to iconic designs of the Golden Age of the automotive industry.
In 2019, Revell GmbH is presenting a potpourri of relaunches, selected new models and kits which have been developed in cooperation with market partners such as Hasegawa Corporation (Hall 7/F-50), Italeri, Eduard Model Accessoires s.r.o. (Hall 7/C-57), Zvezda L.L.C. (Hall 7/C-55) and Dragon. A new kit for experienced model makers comes in the form of the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet multi-purpose fighter aircraft. Revell is investing heavily in the junior kit segment with new product lines designed to build up a new generation of model makers. To mark the 50th anniversary of the moon landing, the company has delved deeply into its repository of shapes and reactivated contemporary models such as the Apollo 11 Saturn V rocket at a scale of 1:96.
