Wednesday to Sunday!
31 Jan – 4 Feb 2018
The Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair Nürnberg is ahead of its time, as already shown by the earlier start on Wednesday, 1.2.2012. The fair team has brought the whole running time forward by a day. This gives about 80.000 trade visitors more consecutive working days for visiting the fair in Nuremberg, where they meet 2.776 companies exhibiting over one million products and 70,000 new products. These include the sparkling winning products in the ToyAward, which are on display in the InnovationCenter in hall 4. The world’s biggest trade fair for toys, hobbies and leisure focuses especially on toys for teenagers – Toys4Teens – in 2012. In the theme area for the Toy Fair Special, retailers find out how they can win back the target group of 13 to 17-year-olds. The comprehensive range of new products, contacts and knowledge offered at the International Toy Fair 2012 culminates in the Global Toy Conference on the Monday of the fair.
Toys4Teens – new ways for toy retailers to reach teenagers
Teenagers like playing – with classic toys too. With a new study, the International Toy Fair does away with the prejudice that teenagers are a lost target group for toy retailers. On the 300-m² theme area at the Mitte (central) entrance, retailers and visitors can see the products teenagers really rave about. The presentation is also intended to give retailers inspiration for arranging their own sales areas. As the study shows, teenagers like buying in toyshops and rate these much more favourably than the shop owners think. To bring both sides closer together, the Toy Fair Special gives visitors many recommendations on how to reach today’s teenagers.
LicenseCenter – get-together for license professionals from 1–4.2.2012
The license themes that teenagers find cool are on display in a showcase in the LicenseCenter at the Mitte (central) entrance on level 1. The share of total toy sales attributed to licensed products in Germany rose to just under 20 per cent in 2011. So there is a growing need for coordination between licensees, licensors and the agencies. The LicenseLounge gives them a suitable place to meet. It is surrounded by the International Trend Selection, in which national and international media partners present the top 3 themes for 2012 in their respective country markets.
Toy Safety – an issue that occupies the industry worldwide
Altogether 15 country pavilions provide a full overview of the toys from 14 nations. These include 100 Chinese exhibitors in the Best of China Pavilion organized by Spielwarenmesse eG in hall 11.0. The fair and marketing services provider makes sure that the exhibitors meet a high quality standard, as toy safety is one of the focuses of the toy industry. In a separate Testing & Inspecting Center in hall 11.1, national and international test and inspection institutes provide information about test procedures and safety requirements. A theme block at the Global Toy Conference parallel to the International Toy Fair is also geared to toy safety.
Global Toy Conference – get fit for the future
Well-known speakers from the toy and consumer goods industries take a look into the future at the Global Toy Conference on 6.2.2012. In four blocks on the key theme of “Tomorrow’s Toy Industry – Opportunities and Challenges”, they discuss “Tomorrow’s Consumer”, “Prospects for the Toy Trade”, “Toy Safety” and “Marketing 3.0”. Manufacturers and retailers can direct any remaining questions on toy safety to the representatives from the European Commission, Maureen Logghe and Andreea Pantazi, both Policy Officers at the European Commission. Details of the programme and entrance tickets for the annual conference are available on the Internet at www.globaltoyconference.com.
The programme for the International Toy Fair is full of new features, know-how and opportunities for networking. So for retailers and buyers from all over the world, Nuremberg is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for future-orientated development of their own business.
