The increasing digitization of classic toys is polarizing adults and children. Do so-called iToys endanger or promote childhood creativity? Do digital toys reflect a serious trend in the market or are they only a passing media hype? To answer these questions, traders and manufacturers need valid data, which is exactly what the International Toy Fair with its motto of Toys 3.0 – The Next Generation will provide in Nuremberg from 30.1-4.2.2013.
The fair highlight tackles the electronic trend and examines it in an international study. The study researches worldwide consumer and user behaviour of the Digital Natives and analyses what is the potential behind iToys. Spielwarenmesse eG is supported by market researcher iconkids & youth, which specializes in research into kids and young people. To enable traders and manufacturers to obtain extensive information on the trend topic Toys 3.0, the Toy Business Forum also devotes time to the Toy Fair Special. On Saturday, 2.2.2013, for example, Axel Dammler, Managing Partner of iconkids & youth, presents the results of the study, whereas US trend expert Reyne Rice reveals in which direction the fusion of traditional toys with digital play functions will develop and which products traders and manufacturers should know.
The Toy Business Forum takes place in the InnovationCenter in hall 4 from 13:00–15:00 daily from Thursday to Monday, 31.1–4.2.2013, and admission is free. The Toy Fair Special Toys 3.0 – The Next Generation is located at the Mitte (central) entrance and presents iToys, toys with digital and electronic components, and virtual play worlds.
