Around 400 exhibitors at Spielwarenmesse donated some of the products they presented at the trade fair in February 2013. These donations mainly benefit charitable organizations in Franconia. “Spielwarenmesse is naturally primarily all about business, but our exhibitors and we ourselves also want social institutions in the region to benefit directly from the fair. This is why we launched the donation campaign,” explains Ernst Kick, Chief Executive Officer of Spielwarenmesse eG. The fair organizer has organized the donation campaign for almost 40 years and ensures that schools, day nurseries, associations, trusts and children’s aid organizations receive new toys for the children in their care.
Twelve local institutions are pleased about the many toys donated this year; one of them is Haus der Heimat in Nuremberg. The association is a place for the cultivation of culture and personal exchange for German displaced persons and immigrants from Eastern Europe and has brought young and old people together since 1998. “We organize many courses and fairs for children, for which we need lots of toys,” says Doris Hutter, General Manager of Haus der Heimat e.V. “Especially when parents bring their children to our music or dance courses, they are often accompanied by small brothers and sisters, who then have to be kept occupied. They will be delighted about the many toys,” says Hutter.
