Wednesday to Sunday!
31 Jan – 4 Feb 2018
Be it new trends, ranges or sales concepts – topics affecting the trade, now and in the future, take centre stage at the Toy Business Forum. Held during the Spielwarenmesse (1.-6.2.2017) and located in Hall 3A, this valuable knowledge zone provides visitors with informative presentations that directly relate to the everyday running of their businesses. In the period from 1 to 5 February 2017, home-grown and international trend experts shed light on exciting market developments in a series of free and compact presentations. Taking place between 1pm and 3pm, each forum day is devoted to a specific topic. A particular highlight of the programme is the “Toy Business Academy” on the Saturday, in which Hamburg-based sales coach Jörg Winter specifically targets sales staff.
Presentations – varied and informative
The Toy Business Forum offers plenty of background information but also practical examples. Starting on Wednesday, the first presentations will discuss the trends currently taking the trade by storm. The spotlight will also fall on the latest developments at the PoS and innovative products. A day later, all attention will be diverted to the topic of licensing. Global findings will be shared by experts led by Steven Ekstract of Advanstar Communications Inc., New York/USA. On the Friday, specialist retailers will be encouraged to step outside their comfort zone. They will learn which ranges can generate additional sales and how they can enhance their existing business concepts.
Practical sales tips
On 4 February 2017, sales staff will be taught how to deal professionally with customers from all walks of life. Renowned expert, Jörg Winter, will help visitors at the “Toy Business Academy” to “get their sales in shape”, providing practical tips in 20-minute modules. “No two customers are alike,” says the experienced expert. “Some like to browse and don’t like to be approached, and others know exactly what they want and are indignant if they aren’t given immediate attention.” Jörg Winter provides practical solutions in dealing with customers, whilst demonstrating the positive impact of a targeted customer approach and explaining how retailers can gain their customers’ confidence. The presentations at the Toy Business Forum are rounded off on the Sunday with a host of new and successful ideas for securing the future of the specialist trade. Some of the topics broached include online advertising, attracting new customers and a best practice example of how to expand successfully into a chain.
