Toy Business Forum at the Spielwarenmesse: Practical knowledge for the trade

Trends, innovation, digitalisation, multichannel marketing – these are all topics preoccupying the toy sector. In its role as the Spielwarenmesse’s knowledge platform, the Toy Business Forum tackles these areas. Every day, from 31 January to 4 February 2018, international speakers deliver topic-specific answers to the most burning questions. Trade buyers are invited to attend these free and compact talks, which take place from 1 pm to 3 pm under a different topic every day. On the Saturday, the Toy Business Forum focuses on the two most important areas for the trade: buying and selling.

Trends, digitalisation and multichannel marketing

The Toy Business Forum offers an abundance of valuable knowledge that is of practical relevance to the toy trade. The presentations start on the Wednesday by looking at current trends in the trade and industry. The speakers include, among others, Richard Gottlieb from the USA, whose opinion is highly sought after as a consultant and speaker. He is CEO of “Global Toy Experts”, a consultancy serving the toy industry, and publisher of the trade title “Global Toy News”. On Thursday, the talks revolve around digitalisation which is making ever greater inroads into our private lives and the trade. Leading on from this, Friday’s focus shifts to multichannel marketing. E-commerce and social media add an exciting extension to traditional bricks-and-mortar concepts, the power of which should not be underestimated.

The link between buying and selling
On the Saturday, attendees learn how the right buying strategy has a successful impact on sales. One of the speakers is Peter Hollo, who is known to many industry members through his long-term role as an international toy buyer for the German retail chain Müller. He ranks as a seasoned toy expert and an outstanding strategist. In 2012, he established “Ph – International Consultants” and has since been advising major international players as well as SMEs. On the final day, 4 February 2018, the topic of marketing takes centre stage. The focus shifts to current trends, tips for a successful sales room and online marketing.
