Playing truant, lovesickness and the desire for self-determination. Children growing up don’t always make it easy for their parents. They dye their hair, swap colouring books for comics and turn the colourful kids room into a restricted access zone – in short, everything changes on the way to becoming an adult. That is, almost everything, because one thing remains common to all teens: the desire to play.
How traders and toy manufacturers can encourage this desire to play is revealed by Toys4Teens, the key theme of the International Toy Fair 2012. Toys4Teens focuses the fair on teenagers as a target group and their consumer behaviour. Exhibitors can present products for 13- to 17-year-olds on individual theme islands in a 300 m² action area.
To enable toy retailers to establish an even better rapport with teens, Spielwarenmesse eG examines the consumer behaviour of juveniles in a study. The results of the analysis will be presented in the Toys4Teens area at the central (Mitte) entrance of the Nuremberg exhibition centre.
The teenager target group came out top in a survey of exhibitors and visitors at the International Toy Fair 2011. This induced Spielwarenmesse eG to nominate Toys4Teens as the Toy Fair Special in 2012. The fair and marketing services provider gives exhibitors the opportunity to position themselves prominently with relevant products. Visitors can obtain information on suitable products and teens’ buying preferences from Wednesday to Monday, 1–6.2.2012. There will also be practical tips for the trade on the appropriate way to approach this target group.
