Toy Fair researches consumer and playing behaviour of teenagers in its Toys4Teens study

Focus on teenagers: With its key theme of Toys4Teens, the coming Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair Nürnberg tackles the attractive target group of 13- to 17-year-olds. The Toy Fair Special shows retailers and manufacturers how teenagers tick, because only those who know their target groups and their preferences can offer suitable products to get them interested in their shops. To provide the facts on teenagers’ buying and playing behaviour, Spielwarenmesse eG, the organizer of the International Toy Fair, is publishing a study. 

It is no secret that adolescents of this age earn little money of their own, but still generously spend their family’s money. This makes teens an extremely high-spending target group, which the toy trade would be only too happy to access. Besides the teenagers themselves, the study therefore interviews retailers, who describe how they approach adolescents at the moment and what range of products they offer them. This enables the teens’ ideas to be compared with the products offered by the trade, which provides scope for improvements.

The International Toy Fair has enlisted the help of an experienced partner to develop the representative study: The Munich market research company iconkids & youth specializes in children and youth research. Together with the institute, the International Toy Fair is developing questionnaires for teenagers and retailers and conducting the interviews. Exhibitors present their products for this specific target group on the 300 m² Toys4Teens theme area. Manufacturers from all over the world can register for the Toy Fair Special until 15.12.2011.
