Attractive sponsorship of young innovative companies at the Spielwarenmesse

Gaining a foothold in the international scene is particularly important for start-ups, as the key of success is an extensive network of business contacts. At the Spielwarenmesse from 27 January to 1 February 2016 in Nuremberg exhibitors mingle with wholesalers, retailers and chain store buyers. The Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) sponsors ambitious young manufacturers by funding up to 70 percent of their trade fair participation costs, thus easing entry to the market and enhancing the product offering with new ideas. At the 2015 Spielwarenmesse 28 exhibitors shared the 274 m² pavilion. Along with the TrendGallery and New Exhibitor Center in Hall 3A they formed a much-visited pool of products and new companies. As Prof. Hauke Schramm, Carving Colours remarked at the 2015 Spielwarenmesse: "As an exhibitor with a new creative product in just a few days we have met a wide variety of representatives across the toy trade spectrum. We have not experienced such range at any other trade fair." Similar sentiments were expressed by Stefan Röhr, owner of Röhr Customs: "It was our first trade fair and the response was magnificent. We are totally impressed, delighted and grateful for this opportunity."

The BMWi federal initiative gives young innovative companies the chance to showcase their innovative power at leading trade fairs. Eligible to apply for funding are German start-ups with fewer than 50 employees and a maximum annual revenue of 10 million euros. The scheme, to which several trade fairs submit their candidacy every year, has been partnered by Spielwarenmesse as leading international trade fair since 2011. It offers participants an attractive booth design concept, supports the Young Innovative Companies pavilion with intensive advertising and promotes exhibitor relations.
