Mittwoch bis Sonntag!
31. Jan - 4. Feb 2018
Visitors to the trade fair can expect toy trends, marketing know-how and highlights from the international licensing business, plus other exciting topics, at the Toy Business Forum of Spielwarenmesse 2016. From 27 to 31 January, TrendGallery’s knowledge platform located in hall 3A offers a daily changing programme of complimentary lectures covering topics that move the toy industry. Between 1.00 pm and 3.00 pm, nationally and internationally renowned experts, including the trend researcher Reyne Rice, present topics of a changing focus. To browse the full programme, go to www.spielwarenmesse.de/en/toybusinessforum.
The toy market of tomorrow
What are the global trends in the toy industry? How do you accurately address young target groups? How to spot trends? On the first day of the trade fair visitors already gain insight into the toy industry of tomorrow and are right at the heart of the sector. The audience can source the best examples immediately following the lectures in the direct vicinity. The TrendGallery showcases the most exciting and promising trends live and direct. Mykola Golovko, Senior Analyst Toys and Games at Euromonitor International from Chicago, will provide facts and figures of a globally linked toy industry (27 January, 1.30 pm).
A focus on licensing
Thursday is dedicated to licensing. The hype surrounding Star Wars, Minions and other popular license themes has stretched beyond the toy industry and inspires a heated debate. How the boost in licensing can be explained and in which direction it is headed will be laid out by an international panel whose members include Paul Bufton, Vice President Licensing and Business Development at Warner Bros. in London (28 January, 1.30 pm). In spite of significant growth, however, the full potential has not yet been tapped. In his presentation titled “Untapped licensing markets: What opportunities lie ahead in Toy & Games” (28 January, 1.00 pm), Filipe Olivera, Senior Analyst of Euromonitor International, points out where he still sees potential for growth.
How to present products, persons and stories
Even the greatest trends and the most extraordinary ideas mandate a good presentation. From the right shop design and a successful sales pitch to how to connect with the online world - industry insiders will demonstrate from Friday to Saturday practice-minded knowledge about design and marketing. Jörg Winter, a Hamburg-based coach, will be showing during his presentation (30 January, 1.00 pm) how to overcome your own limitations, train empathy and convey enthusiasm. More often than not, it is only a small step from the experience that a trade fair visitor gains to the customer’s shopping experience.
All presentations will be simultaneously interpreted into English or German respectively.

Spielwarenmesse’s YouTube channel, www.youtube.com/spielwarenmesse, also lists the presentations held last year as Webcasts.
