With the Spielwarenmesse opening its doors at Nuremberg’s exhibition centre from 29 January to 2 February 2020, the industry’s most important business gathering brings together retailers and exhibitors from all over the world. Young German start-ups can gain access to the toy world by exhibiting at the Innovation made in Germany pavilion. This joint format gives young German companies the chance to forge relevant contacts and to tap into international markets. They also receive financial support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) which covers up to 60 percent of their exhibition costs. For retailers and buyers, it is an opportunity to discover new ideas and to enhance their product ranges.
Strong innovative spirit
The young German companies present their innovations to the international audience in the dedicated area in Hall 3A. Among the start-ups appearing at the 71st edition of the world’s leading fair, Dynamiko is offering a wooden bike which stays on track even in bends. Taking part for the second time, GeoBender is all about cubes that conceal a complex magnetic 3D puzzle, whilst loud + proud makes baby and children’s fashion from sustainable materials and in fair working conditions. Ernst Kick, CEO of Spielwarenmesse eG, comments: “Staging the pavilion at the Spielwarenmesse is an undertaking that is close to our hearts. Young entrepreneurs wanting to market their innovative products can unleash huge potential here, opening the door to long-term success in the marketplace.” At the 70th Spielwarenmesse, a total of 22 exhibitors received funding from the BMWi. Since 2019, young entrepreneurs have also had the opportunity to submit their innovations for the ToyAward in the Start-up Category and to strengthen their market position with the help of this important quality mark.
The Spielwarenmesse has put together a high-quality all-round package for innovative German start-ups. Not only does it include furnishings for the 6m²-15m2 stands but also a shared area with an information desk, a lounge for meetings as well as a range of marketing services. Participants also enjoy particularly attractive terms and conditions for other highlights such as the PressPreview and the Special Areas. Companies wanting to appear at Innovation made in Germany must have an innovative product, employ fewer than 50 staff, have an annual turnover under EUR 10m and have been trading for less than ten years. In addition, the company’s headquarters and business operations must be located in Germany. Manufacturers interested in appearing at the pavilion can register at www.spielwarenmesse.de/en/application until 15 November 2019. To improve the efficiency of the booking process, start-ups can, for the first time, submit their full sponsorship application for Spielwarenmesse 2020 online.
