The sequinned plush toy acted as the astronauts’ zero-G indicator

  • On Saturday 30 May, Nasa and Elon Musk’s SpaceX successfully launched its mission from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This was the first crewed flight from US soil in nine years.

The space mission, which has been referred to as Demo-2, launched on Saturday 30 May at 15:22pm ET – 20:22 UK time. The flight saw astronauts Douglas Hurley and Robert Behken orbit the Earth for around 19 hours before they docked with the International Space Station (ISS) at 15.29 on Sunday.

And the crew for this historic mission to space – the first ever space mission involving a private company – had some sequinned plush company.

The launch, which was broadcast by Nasa TV and viewed by millions globally, saw a ‘stowaway’ Ty Flippables Tremor Dinosaur floating around the cabin of the Crew Dragon in NASA’s live feed. The commentator introduced the guest, saying: “Looks like we saw our zero-G indicator floating around there.”
