Farewell to the Green Deal?

NGOs are already warning, political observers are already talking about a rollercoaster ride in Brussels' environmental policy. Whereas just five years ago the focus was on the transformative power of green technology and the desire to make the continent climate-neutral by 2020, Brussels is now being overtaken by geopolitical reality.

If the EU Council's list of priorities for the rest of the decade, which has now become public, is to be believed, then climate issues are once again taking a back seat, while defense, security and migration are the new green. However, the draft may still change. The EU heads of state and government will approve it after the European Parliament elections in June.
