Crayola announces first global ambassadors ahead of creativity week
Crayola has unveiled the first group of Creativity Week Global Ambassadors, naming 31 schools from around the world that demonstrate how creativity enhances learning and fosters a positive school environment. The schools were selected from more than 1,200 applications across 11 countries, including the United States, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Italy, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
Celebrating five years of creativity week
The global ambassador program was launched to mark the fifth anniversary of Crayola Creativity Week, taking place from January 26 to February 1. The selected schools represent a wider community of more than 127,000 schools from over 70 percent of countries worldwide that have registered for the free virtual event, which provides educators and families with tools to support children’s creative development.
Supporting creativity in education
Crayola created the school ambassador program to amplify the voices of educators and schools that place creativity at the heart of student growth. Ambassador schools will share their experiences with Creativity Week and offer practical ideas for incorporating creative learning into everyday teaching. Crayola will also collaborate closely with these schools to gather insights that help refine future resources and better understand creativity’s impact on students, families, and classrooms.
Creativity as a foundation for success
Cheri Sterman, senior director of education at Crayola, emphasized that creativity is a critical skill for childhood development and lifelong achievement. She noted that the global ambassadors illustrate how creativity can be embedded across all subjects and expressed enthusiasm for recognizing their leadership during Creativity Week and beyond.
Voices from the classroom
One ambassador representative shared that creativity encourages students to think deeply, express themselves, and find joy in learning. They described Crayola Creativity Week as an engaging and meaningful way to celebrate imagination and highlight how creative thinking can enrich every part of school life.
A global week of creative learning
During the final week of January, classrooms, libraries, and homes in more than 140 countries will take part in daily themed activities aligned with educational standards. These activities combine hands-on learning with literacy, STEAM, and social-emotional development. Participants receive free access to interactive content led by internationally recognized creative professionals, resources available in eight languages, and daily prizes.
Connecting classrooms worldwide
The program concludes with a live-streamed global school assembly, bringing together students and educators from around the world to celebrate creativity. Teachers and parents can register now for Creativity Week at Crayola.com/CreativityWeek.
