Angry Birds Movie 3 set to hit theaters in December

The Angry Birds are set to return to theaters in December with The Angry Birds Movie 3, following two years of production. The film’s trailer was released this summer, with its December premiere marking 17 years since the original Angry Birds mobile game launched on Apple’s App Store in December 2009.

Previous movies

The first The Angry Birds Movie was released in 2016 and became the first mobile app to be adapted into a full-length feature film. The Angry Birds Movie 2 followed in 2019 and, according to Rotten Tomatoes, has remained one of the highest-rated video game movies.

The two films have generated more than $500 million at the global box office, according to The Numbers.

The production

The upcoming animated film is being produced with the involvement of Rovio Entertainment, the owner of the Angry Birds intellectual property, along with Prime Focus Studios, Flywheel Media, One Cool Group, Dentsu and Paramount Pictures.

Returning voice cast members include Jason Sudeikis as Red, Josh Gad as Chuck, Rachel Bloom as Silver and Danny McBride as Bomb. The new film will also feature voice performances from Emma Myers, Keke Palmer, Tim Robinson, Lily James, Marcello Hernandez and Jimmy Donaldson, also known as MrBeast.

The Angry Birds are also continuing to expand their presence in the licensing industry through collaborations.
