Bagpuss conquers the big screen
Bagpuss, the white and pink cat that has been popular since the 1970s, is now set to be revived in a new film, reaching and delighting a new generation of children. Bagpuss' story began in 1974 in a television series in which she came to life in a shop window.
At the end of the 1990s, Bagpuss was even voted the most popular children's program of all time in a BBC poll. According to the producers, the film, which is now in production, will be a mixture of live action and animation.
The film is being developed in collaboration with the estate administrators of Bagpuss' original creators, Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin. Threewise Entertainment, based in Birmingham, will produce the film and plans to release it in 2027.
