BBC Commercial delivers strong profit growth
BBC Commercial reported stable annual revenue of £2.2 billion for the 2025/26 financial year, while EBITDA rose 17% to £267 million, driven by growth in direct-to-consumer services and a strong consumer products business. The company returned £377 million to the BBC, keeping it on track to meet its five-year target of £1.5 billion in returns.
Largest subsidiary
BBC Studios, the company’s largest subsidiary, generated £2.13 billion in revenue and increased EBITDA by 17% to £263 million. Growth was supported by higher-margin sales, cost savings, expanding streaming services such as BritBox and BBC Select, and the continued global success of Bluey, which remained the most-streamed title in the U.S. on Disney+ for a second consecutive year and the top preschool toy brand in the country.
Strong creative performance
The company also highlighted strong creative performance, with BBC Studios retaining its position as the UK’s most-awarded production company after receiving 91 awards. Other milestones included record viewing figures for Death Valley, continued international success for Dancing with the Stars, record audience growth for BBC.com, and expanding FAST streaming channels. Despite ongoing challenges in the global media market, BBC Commercial said it remains focused on direct-to-consumer growth, digital platforms, and global content distribution.
Pay Gap Report
Separately, BBC Studios published its latest Pay Gap Report, showing reductions in its median gender, ethnicity and LGBTQ+ pay gaps compared with the previous year, while also disclosing pay gap data for deaf, neurodivergent and disabled employees for the first time.
