Bron studios files for bankruptcy

According to a statement of Co-founder and CEO Aaron L. Gilbert last week, Bron Studios has filed for bankruptcy. Born, an alliance of Canadian companies that includes animation studio Bron Digital and live-action production company Bron Studios, is having to go this route due to the pandemic and ongoing strikes, according to Gilbert.

“Having explored many options for many months, Bron had no choice but to take this step in light of its financial circumstances. The last few years have been incredibly difficult for Born  and things have only gotten more complicated over these past months,” said Gilbert.

The letter also states that Bron has filed for creditor protection in the Supreme Court of British Columbia in Canada and in the United States under Chapter 15, which applies in cases involving multiple countries. Bron was founded in 2017 and has supported award-winning films such as "Joker" and commercial films such as "Ghostbusters: Afterlife," "The Mule" and Netflix original animated film "Klaus" and "The Willoughbys."
