Character World Brands acquires Björna and CTI
Character World Brands, a division of Bioworld, has acquired Danish home textiles specialist Björna and French home textiles company Chaulnes Textile Industries (CTI), strengthening its European capabilities for licensing and retail partners.
Announced to coincide with Brand Licensing Europe in London, the acquisitions bring together complementary businesses to support Character World Brands’ continued growth across Europe and beyond.
Year-on-year growth of more than 40%
Since joining Bioworld in March 2025, Character World Brands has achieved year-on-year growth of more than 40%. The acquisitions are expected to strengthen the company’s regional expertise, retail relationships and product development capabilities, supported by Bioworld’s global sourcing, distribution and commercial infrastructure.
Both Björna and CTI are established partners of Character World Brands. Björna brings strong relationships with Nordic retailers, alongside sourcing and design expertise. CTI contributes more than four decades of experience in bedding and home accessories in France, as well as a portfolio of licensed products and its own award-winning textile brand, Matt & Rose.
Market-leading businesses
“Björna and CTI are both market-leading businesses we know well, with talented teams who understand their markets and customers,” said James Walker, CEO of Character World Brands. “Bringing our capabilities together will help us develop stronger collections, serve more retailers, and give our licensing partners greater reach across Europe.”
The expanded group will combine design and licensing expertise with established routes to market across the EU. Brand owners will have opportunities to develop broader home product ranges across more territories, while retailers will benefit from a wider range of expertise and resources to develop and deliver collections at greater scale and speed.
Strengthen collaboration
The acquisitions will also strengthen collaboration with Bioworld’s US business, creating opportunities to introduce products and brand partnerships to new audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.
“Björna and CTI bring the local knowledge, relationships, and capabilities that are essential to building a global business,” said Matt Alexander, VP of Corporate Development at Bioworld.
The acquisitions support Bioworld’s Brand Growth Platform strategy, which combines creative, commercial, operational and financial capabilities to help brands grow across categories, channels and markets.
