Children's Publisher Cottage Door Press Enters Toy Market
Cottage Door Press has expanded beyond children’s books with the release of its first toy product, the Luna StoryTime Projector. The Luna projector aims to provide an alternative to screen-based entertainment for children ages 3 to 7. The 3-in-1 device projects stories onto walls or ceilings, plays audio stories/music and functions as a night light.
"To instill a lifelong love of reading, it's important to meet kids where they're at," says Dick Maddrell, chief executive officer and founder, Cottage Door Press. "Whether through the pages of one of our chunky board books or a new kind of interactive storytelling experience with Luna, our goal is to engage children with the magic of storytime. Moving into the toy aisle with Luna is a natural next step for us as a company, deepening our connection with today's families."
Partnered with popular children's brands
The company has partnered with several popular children's brands to create content for the Luna system. Characters from “Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood,” “PAW Patrol,” “Sesame Street,” “Thomas & Friends” and John Deere Kids will be featured in the first wave of Luna Content Characters, which plug into the main device.
"Parents and caregivers are juggling more than ever. While we want to instill a love of reading in our children, it's not always easy to compete with digital entertainment, find time to read aloud to them or ignite genuine excitement for storytime," says Melissa Tigges, vice president, strategic initiatives, Cottage Door Press. "Luna reimagines storytime as a joyful, screen-free experience – fostering meaningful family connection or empowering independent play, while giving parents a well-earned break."
