CJ ENM Unveils Ambitious AI Strategy with Fully AI-Produced Animated Series

South Korea’s CJ ENM has announced a bold new direction, integrating artificial intelligence across all of its productions and positioning itself as a “global AI studio.” The company, known for hits like Rainbow Ruby and Robot Trains, revealed its strategy at a Seoul event, showcasing its commitment to using AI in planning, production, distribution, and marketing.

To demonstrate the power of AI, CJ ENM has created Cat Biggie, a CG-animated preschool series produced entirely with artificial intelligence. The no-dialogue series (30 x 2-minute episodes) follows a cat who becomes the father of a baby chick and will launch globally on YouTube in July. Remarkably, a team of just six people completed the entire production in five months—a fraction of the time required for traditional CG animation.

CJ ENM’s proprietary Cinematic AI tool streamlines the creation of images, video, sound, and voice, enabling consistent and coherent visual output. The studio also uses an AI Script tool to analyze scripts for market trends and commercial viability.

While some studios and broadcasters are cautious about AI, CJ ENM is embracing the technology, training talent and planning to expand its AI expertise into live-action films and drama series. Legal experts at the event emphasized the need for clear industry guidelines and legal frameworks to support the global growth of AI-generated content.

CJ ENM’s move signals a significant shift in the animation and entertainment industry, as it aims to lead the way in AI-driven content creation on a global scale.
