Disney expands its collaboration with Formula 1
Tasia Filippatos, President of Disney Consumer Products, announced at the South by Southwest® conference in Austin, Texas—during the excitement of the Chinese Formula 1 Grand Prix—that Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck will take center stage this spring in the collaboration between Disney and the Formula 1 ACADEMY. They will feature prominently in exclusive merchandise, on-site character experiences, and new formats designed to engage both existing and new fans.
Strong global fan interest
Filippatos stated that the collaboration has already generated strong global fan interest, and expanding it to the F1 ACADEMY marks an exciting new chapter. With Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck leading the initiative, the partnership celebrates confidence, friendship, and individuality while combining Disney storytelling with a sport that empowers the next generation of female athletes.
Susie Wolff, Managing Director of F1 ACADEMY, emphasized that the collaboration brings Disney’s storytelling into the series through “Fuel the Magic,” inspired by the friendship between Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck and its message of women supporting women. She highlighted that combining creativity, ambition, and belief in possibilities will help inspire future fans, drivers, and leaders in motorsport.
Global storytelling powerhouse
Emily Prazer, Chief Commercial Officer of Formula 1 and President & CEO of Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc., described Disney as a global storytelling powerhouse that connects generations while celebrating individuality. She noted that supporting the F1 ACADEMY is a natural extension of the partnership, reinforcing efforts to promote women in motorsport and create impactful collaborations that engage fans and reflect the sport’s values.
The announcement underscores Disney’s ongoing commitment to sports culture and young fan communities, while expanding its long-term partnership with Formula 1 to include a platform dedicated to developing the next generation in motorsport. Further details, content, and previews of the merchandise collection will be revealed later this spring.
