Disney unveils: ’Disney Celebrates America’ Program for U.S. 250th anniversary

The Walt Disney Company has announced an extensive lineup of programming, park experiences, and community initiatives as part of its “Disney Celebrates America” campaign, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States.

Two-hour primetime television special

The company revealed plans for a two-hour primetime television special, Disney Celebrates America: The Pursuit of Happiness, airing on ABC on June 29. Hosted by Deborah Roberts and Will Reeve, the program will highlight key moments, achievements, and traditions that have shaped the nation’s history.

24-hour, multi-platform broadcast

Disney will also produce a 24-hour, multi-platform broadcast beginning on July 3 and continuing through July 4. Led by ABC News anchor David Muir and featuring coverage from all 50 states, the event will air across Disney-owned television networks and streaming platforms. Programming will include live celebrations, historical storytelling, performances, special reports, and features exploring America’s past, present, and future.

Among the broadcast highlights is Disney Celebrates America: Nashville’s Star-Spangled Bash, a large-scale live event in downtown Nashville featuring musical performances, fireworks, and a drone show accompanied by the Nashville Symphony. Additional segments will focus on American history, military service, innovation, sports, and the newly announced “Seven Natural Wonders of America,” developed in collaboration between ABC News and National Geographic.

Disney Parks will play a central role

Disney Parks will play a central role in the celebration. The new Soarin’ Across America attraction experience is already open at EPCOT and will debut at Disneyland Resort on July 2. Across Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, guests can expect patriotic décor, special entertainment, fireworks, military tributes, themed food and merchandise, and ceremonies honoring veterans and active-duty service members.

The initiative also includes expanded support for military families through Disney’s partnership with Blue Star Families. Disney’s previously announced $2.5 million commitment will help fund programs, events, literacy initiatives, and community activities for military families throughout the anniversary year.

Additional celebrations will take place across Disney Cruise Line and Disney retail locations, with Disney stating that more activities and announcements are planned in the lead-up to the nation’s 250th anniversary.
