Final translation of Toy Safety Regulation published

The final version of the new EU Toy Safety Regulation has now been published on the European Council website in the languages of the member states.

Replacing the old Toy Directive

The regulation is intended to replace Toy Directive 2009/48/EC. Ministers are expected to decide on the new version in mid-October. Although changes are generally no longer possible before the vote, Toy Industries of Europe (TIE) and national associations, including DVSI, are currently checking whether the requested changes have been taken into account in the wording of the national texts.

Approval in November

The final version must also be approved by the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection and the European Parliament. Observers estimate that this will happen in November. This makes publication in the EU Official Journal in December increasingly likely. The Toy Safety Regulation is then expected to apply from June or July 2030.
