Half year games charts: Hogwarts Legacy and Diablo in the lead
During the first six months of 2023, 76.1 million console and PC games were sold across Europe. Compared to the figures in this period for the year 2022, the sales figures this year have increased slightly.
Hogwarts Legacy from Warner Bros. is the best-selling game for the first half of 2023 across Europe, so far.
Its sales are 69% higher than those of Elden Ring, the best-selling game in the first half of 2022, in the same period.
The game was number one in UK, Germany, Italy and France. Activision Blizzard’s Diablo 4 ranked second in the Top 20 games charts.
Although it had only been on sale for a few weeks when the data was collected, it is one of the most successful games of the year.
Fifa23 is in third place, closely followed by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, although only the data from physical purchases could be taken into account.
The figures are based on GSD data and include physical games sold in European key markets as well as digital game sales from nearly all leading publishers in all European countries.
