Hasbro Marks International Day of Play with Global Initiatives and Dungeons & Dragons Events
Hasbro, Inc. is celebrating the second annual International Day of Play (IDOP) on 11 June 2025 with a series of worldwide activities aimed at expanding access to play for children and families.
Key highlights of Hasbro’s IDOP 2025 initiatives include:
- New Dungeons & Dragons Adventure: Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast are launching “Borderlands Quest: Goblin Trouble,” a free, family-friendly D&D adventure available for download on D&D Beyond and at over 300 Wizards Play Network retail stores in the U.S. The adventure is designed for players of all ages and experience levels.
- Community Partnerships: Hasbro is piloting afterschool D&D clubs at 10 Boys & Girls Clubs of America, providing game materials and training for future Dungeon Masters. Volunteers will visit local clubs to bring the fun directly to kids.
- Hospital Outreach: In partnership with Starlight Children’s Foundation, Hasbro is delivering D&D adventures and toys to over 800 partner hospitals across the U.S., with special play sessions and toy deliveries in cities including Seattle and Los Angeles. In London, Hasbro is working with Spread a Smile to host interactive play sessions at four hospitals.
- Global Playdays: Hasbro teams from London to Singapore are hosting playdays and collaborating with local nonprofits to bring play to their communities.
Theron Grim, Vice President of EHS, Sustainability, and Corporate Citizenship at Hasbro, emphasized the importance of play: “In a world where loneliness is rising and access to play isn’t equal, we know it has the power to build friendships, boost emotional well-being, and spark lifelong skills.”
The International Day of Play, adopted by the United Nations in 2024, is dedicated to recognizing play as a fundamental human right and calls on governments, organizations, and communities to ensure all children have time, space, and access to quality play.
