Kids India Roadshow highlights opportunities in Mumbai

The latest stop on the Kids India Roadshow in Mumbai has highlighted the opportunities and requirements of the Indian toy market. The event, organised by Spielwarenmesse India Pvt. Ltd. ahead of the next Kids India trade fair, brought together international companies and industry representatives to discuss market developments, regulatory issues, and potential business opportunities.

Insights into the characteristics of the Indian market

Held in early September with the support of TAITMA (The All India Toy Manufacturers’ Association), the event provided participants with insights into the characteristics of the Indian market. Tanu Ailawadi, Managing Director of Spielwarenmesse India Pvt. Ltd., led the delegation.

A key topic was regulatory compliance. Vagal A.S., Chartered Engineer and Techno‑Legal Expert at Saaiamrut Associates, explained the Packaged Commodity Rules under the Legal Metrology Act and stressed the importance of understanding regulatory requirements for companies already operating in India or planning to enter the market.

India’s young population, increasing purchasing power and growing digital access are contributing to the continued expansion of the toy sector. The country has around 357 million children aged 0–14 years, while its toy market is expected to reach US$4.1 billion by 2032.

Through its International Delegation Programme, Kids India offers companies the opportunity to explore the market through industry insights, B2B matchmaking, factory visits, retail tours, and participation in the trade fair.

The next Kids India trade fair will take place from 4 to 6 March 2027 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.
