KOSMOS expands: full acquisition of Thames & Kosmos UK

Kosmos has acquired all remaining shares of Thames & Kosmos UK from minority shareholders and founding directors Stephen O’Connor and Joanna Drage. Both are stepping down from operational roles and retiring.

With this transaction, Thames & Kosmos UK becomes Kosmos’ first wholly owned international subsidiary. The Stuttgart-based games and media company is thus continuing to implement its internationalization strategy and further expanding its global activities.

“Stephen O’Connor and Joanna Drage built and successfully led Thames & Kosmos UK with entrepreneurial vision, integrity, and great dedication,” said Kosmos CEO Thilan Tran. “They firmly established the KOSMOS brand in the United Kingdom and made an important contribution to our international development. We sincerely thank them for their achievements and years of trusted collaboration.”

As of January 1, 2026, Emma Hanlon and Andrew Morris have taken over the management. The new leadership team combines strong market expertise with extensive experience in sales and the British toy and consumer goods market.

“With the new ownership structure and leadership team, we aim to further scale and continuously expand our international sales activities,” said CEO Matthias Kienzle. “Our focus is on deepening market penetration in existing product categories and unlocking additional growth potential.”

As part of the full acquisition, organizational adjustments and standardized processes will also be implemented to enhance operational efficiency. This establishes the foundation for the company’s next growth phase in the UK market, a key pillar of Kosmos’ international growth strategy.

In addition to its UK subsidiary, Kosmos operates another international subsidiary in the United States and works with a global network of distribution partners, bringing its products to more than 80 countries worldwide.
