LEGO and Pokémon launch interactive SMART Play set range

The LEGO Group and The Pokémon Company International have unveiled a new collection of LEGO Pokémon SMART Play sets, introducing a technology-enhanced play experience designed for children aged six and older.

Traditional LEGO building with interactive features

The new product line combines traditional LEGO building with interactive features such as lights, sounds, motion responses, and sensor-based gameplay. According to LEGO, the technology is integrated directly into the physical play experience and does not require screens.

Launch range includes 12 sets

The launch range includes 12 sets featuring well-known Pokémon characters, including Pikachu, Charizard, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Eevee, Mew, Mewtwo, Gengar, and Umbreon. Children can train, nurture, and battle their Pokémon through a variety of interactive play mechanics designed to emulate the role of a Pokémon Trainer.

LEGO’s new SMART Brick technology

At the center of the collection is LEGO’s new SMART Brick technology. Two “All-in-One” starter sets include the SMART Brick, charger, and SMART Tags needed to activate the interactive features, while ten additional expansion sets are compatible with the system. LEGO says the SMART Brick can detect and respond to different forms of physical interaction through a combination of sensing technologies.

The LEGO Pokémon SMART Play range is available for pre-order now and is scheduled to launch on August 1, 2026, through LEGO Stores, LEGO.com, and selected retail partners in participating markets.

To mark the launch, LEGO is also offering a special gift-with-purchase set, “Ditto as Squirtle: Movie Night,” available with qualifying purchases while supplies last.

Collaboration on a promotional campaign

In addition, LEGO and Pokémon GO will collaborate on a promotional campaign in selected markets. Participating LEGO Stores will be transformed into PokéStops and Gyms during August and September 2026, providing visitors with exclusive in-game and in-store rewards.
