Madgic Distribution announced APAC deals
Madgic Distribution has announced several major sales in the APAC region. Singapore’s national broadcaster Mediacorp has acquired Emerald (18 x 11’ plus a 22’ special), adapted from Harriet Muncaster’s books and produced by Kelebek Media, as well as seasons 1 and 2 of Jade Armor (52 x 26’), produced by TeamTO. Emerald has also been picked up by ABC Australia. In China, Shanghai Senyu Culture Media has acquired distribution rights to Stories from the Backwood in a deal brokered by Midolala.
Demand for high-quality animation
Managing Director Lionel Marty said demand for high-quality animation remains strong across APAC, with Emeraldproving popular alongside its companion series Isadora Moon.
Emerald targets children aged 4–7 and follows a young mermaid adjusting to life as a princess in a blended family. Madgic holds worldwide rights excluding the UK, US and Italy. Jade Armor is a French-produced action comedy commissioned by France Télévisions and Super RTL. Stories from the Backwood is a 13 x 11’ 3D animated comedy from Ink and Light Films for YLE Finland, following the unlikely friendship of a city raccoon and a helpful forest hare.
