Mattel earns a spot on "Time100 most influential companies list“
To create the TIME100 companies, editors led by Emma Barker seek nominations from all industries and survey a global network of employees and correspondents, as well as outside experts.
Companies are then evaluated on key factors such as relevance, success, impact, innovation and leadership. The result is a diverse group of companies that will have a major impact on the way we act and work in the future.
In the "Titans" category, Mattel was able to secure a spot on the list, alongside companies like TikTok, Apple, Microsoft and Siemens.
The explanation reads as follows:
Mattel, the company behind Barbie, American Girl, and Uno, is rapidly expanding from toys to digital games, merchandise, and films driven by its storied IP. This summer,
Mattel will debut Greta Gerwig’s much hyped Barbie movie, the iconic doll’s first on the big screen in her 64-year history.
Barbie is just the first of 15 projects in development from Mattel’s new films division, ranging from a Hot Wheels movie with J.J. Abrams to a Barney film with
Daniel Kaluuya. Led by CEO Ynon Kreiz, Mattel also won back the lucrative Disney Princess contract from rival Hasbro, launching new dolls this year, and has broken ground on a theme park in Arizona.
Companies such as Duolingo and Disney were also able to secure a place in the Top100.
