NBCUniversal: releasing the epic finale of “Wicked: For Good” in November
In a nearly unprecedented move that highlights its speed and nimbleness as a major media company, NBCUniversal will air Universal Pictures’ worldwide box office sensation Wicked on NBC on Wednesday, Nov. 19 from 8-11:30 p.m. ET/PT, less than a year following the film’s record-shattering theatrical release.
$756 million in earnings globally
Having earned $756 million globally and the highest domestic gross of any film since its release on Nov. 22, 2024, Wicked became the biggest Broadway film adaptation of all-time and secured 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture.
Global cultural phenomenon
The NBC telecast of Wicked leads up to the Nov. 21 premiere of Wicked: For Good, the epic finale to the global cultural phenomenon. Directed by Jon M. Chu, the final chapter of the untold story of the witches of Oz begins with Elphaba (Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Oscar nominee Ariana Grande) estranged and living with the consequences of their choices. When a girl from Kansas comes crashing into their lives, they will need to come together one final time, and truly see each other, if they are to change themselves, and all of Oz, for good.
Wicked: For Good is produced by four-time Academy Award nominee and Tony and Emmy-winning powerhouse Marc Platt and by multiple Tony Award winner David Stone.
