NielsenIQ and GfK to merge

After NielsenIQ and GfK received approval from the European Commission for planned merger, it is now official. NIQ and GfK are merging to form a joint consumer intelligence company.

The two companies announced the merger in a joint press release. This will create a global leader in consumer intelligence, with reported sales of more than $4 billion per year and serving more than 30,000 customers in 100 countries.

Jim Peck, former CEO of NIQ, is expected to lead the combined company.

He said the merger of NielsenIQ and GfK represents the most significant step for both companies in their strategic efforts to offer a global view of consumer buying behavior

combined with omnichannel coverage, data platforms and predictive analytics.

According to the report, the new company is now able to advance measurement through a global cloud-native platform. Intuitive business intelligence tools are expected

to deliver granular market data and predictive analytics based on generative artificial intelligence and reliable data science.

GfK previously sold its European consumer panel business to YouGov. That was necessary to get approval for the merger in the first place.

The combined company will retain its main sites in Chicago (USA), Nuremberg (Germany) and Geneva (Switzerland).
