Paramount moves ‘Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender’ premiere to July
Paramount has moved the release of the animated film “Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender” from its previously planned October debut to July 25, when it will premiere globally on Paramount+. The film was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on Oct. 9 before being shifted to a direct-to-streaming release in December 2025.
Paramount unveils first trailer
Ahead of its release, Paramount unveiled the film’s first trailer and first-look images. The voice cast includes Eric Nam as Aang, Dave Bautista as Tagah, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, Steven Yeun as Zuko, and Dionne Quan as Toph. According to the official synopsis, Aang discovers an ancient power that could save Air Nomad culture from extinction and embarks on a global journey with his friends to find it before it falls into the wrong hands.
The trailer follows Aang as he reflects on being the world’s last airbender before encountering Tagah, an ancient airbender whom he believes could help restore their culture.
Based on the original animated series
Based on the original animated series created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the film features a story by DiMartino, Konietzko, Tim Hedrick, and Kenneth Lin, with a screenplay by Hedrick and Christopher Yost. Lauren Montgomery directs alongside co-directors Steve Ahn and William Mata, while Latifa Ouaou, Maryann Garger, Konietzko, and DiMartino serve as producers. The film is produced by Avatar Studios.
Originally airing on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008, “Avatar: The Last Airbender” has been widely praised for its storytelling, character development, and animation, and is regarded as one of the greatest animated series of all time.
