Playmobil reports significant decline in revenue
Playmobil figures, reported another significant decline in revenue and continues to operate at a loss. Revenue for the 2024/2025 financial year fell to €409 million, compared with €490 million the previous year and around €760 million in 2020/2021. The company described the latest figure as a net revenue of €449 million.
700 jobs already been cut
According to the company, the decline in sales has slowed compared with previous years. As part of a strategic restructuring, extensive organizational changes and major investments were made, while accepting temporary losses. Around 700 jobs have already been cut in Germany and abroad.
Focusing on new target groups
Playmobil is now focusing on new target groups and licensing partnerships to return to profitable growth. Sales of figures linked to the German national football team have reportedly shown promising results, and figures representing all Bundesliga clubs are planned for release later this year.
Production in Germany will end in June
The company also announced that production of Playmobil figures in Germany will end in June. The plant in Dietenhofen will instead focus solely on producing Lechuza planters, resulting in up to 350 job losses. Future Playmobil production will continue in countries such as Malta and the Czech Republic.
