Products of Change (POC) launches sustainability framework
Products of Change launched the result of a two-year cross-industry project to develop a framework for transitioning the $290 billion global branding and licensing industry to a more sustainable way of doing business.
Developed by the industry, for the industry, the framework is based on insights from licensors, licensees, manufacturers, retailers and sustainability experts, including the Natural History Museum, Lego Group, Hasbro and BBC Worldwide, among others. Information was also gathered and integrated from materials, packaging, circular economy and other areas. The framework includes a step-by-step process and suggested timeline for impactful change that can be implemented across all business sectors to help companies and individuals wherever they are on their sustainability journey.
Part One provides an overview of basic groundwork and initial processes to prepare for a transition.Part two helps set goals and ambitions to be achieved within a specific timeframe in all key business areas, from waste reduction to packaging and product design to materials selection, supply chain and purchasing, and facilities management.Lastly, the third part provides suggestions for contract wording that brand owners and intermediaries can use to begin to embrace and promote sustainable behaviors across their partnership base.
Helena Mansell-Stopher, executive director and founder of Products of Change, said, "Products of Change was launched three years ago to support the sustainable transformation of the branding and licensing industry. Our goal is not only to educate about change and share best practices, but also to provide the tools to make change happen."The POC Industry Framework is the first resource of its kind for the industry, and we are very proud to be working with the License Global and Licensing International team to lead this industry change."
