Rainbow acquires Geronimo Stilton intellectual property

Rainbow, the independent Italian entertainment group celebrating its 30th anniversary under the leadership of Iginio Straffi, has acquired the intellectual property of the beloved children’s character Geronimo Stilton. This acquisition will usher in a new era of creative and commercial development for the journalist mouse, whose books, written by Elisabetta Dami, have sold over 190 million copies in more than 50 languages.

Countless young fans worldwide 

Rainbow, known for global hits like the Winx Club animated series, secured the rights by purchasing shares in International Characters S.r.l. (owned by Dami) and in PM S.r.l. (owned by Pietro Marietti). Created by Dami, Geronimo Stilton has become a global phenomenon, with countless young fans worldwide. The stories follow Geronimo, a hesitant hero and editor of The Rodent’s Gazette, who finds himself caught up in thrilling, humorous, and heartfelt adventures. The animated series has also achieved international success.

The Geronimo Stilton universe

In addition to the main book series, the Geronimo Stilton universe has expanded to include spin-offs like Tea Sisters, which explores new publishing opportunities, particularly stories told by Geronimo’s sister, Tea Stilton. Rainbow aims to further develop the Geronimo Stilton brand while maintaining its core charm and universal values that promote observation, exploration, and learning.
