Ravensburger becomes majority shareholder of Steiff
Ravensburger has acquired a majority stake in Margarete Steiff GmbH. The move brings together two companies rooted in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, both shaped by more than a century of history and united by a shared commitment to quality, responsibility, and strong, enduring brands.
"Steiff is one of the most renowned brands in the toy industry, characterized by a high degree of quality and strong emotional appeal," said Ravensburger CEO Clemens Maier. Ravensburger founder Otto Maier was inspired by the idea of creating toys for the head, hand, and heart. Steiff, with its iconic companions that have been part of people's childhoods around the world for generations, represents that "heart" in a truly unique way.
Frank Rheinboldt, CEO of Margarete Steiff GmbH, emphasized: "With our partner Ravensburger, we are laying the foundation to further develop the Steiff brand over the long term, unlock international growth opportunities, and combine our rich heritage with new impulses for the future."
Steiff will continue to operate independently from its historic home in Giengen, preserving the craftsmanship and emotional connection that have defined the brand for generations.
