Rocky Horror Show Bobbleheads launch on Kickstarter
The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum has launched a Kickstarter campaign to produce the first officially licensed The Rocky Horror Show bobbleheads. The collection features seven figures based on the original 1973 stage production that inspired the cult film The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The collection
The collection includes characters Rocky, Brad, Janet, Magenta, Riff Raff and Columbia, alongside a Kickstarter-exclusive Dr. Frank-N-Furter bobblehead available only to campaign backers. The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum is producing the figures as an official licensee of The Rocky Horror Show.
The campaign aims to raise $15,000 and runs from September 25 until midnight Central Time on October 31, Halloween. Individual bobbleheads are available for $30 each, plus shipping, with additional exclusive add-ons also offered. Supporters who do not wish to receive a bobblehead can contribute from $1.
Limited production quantities
Production quantities will be limited according to demand during the campaign. The Dr. Frank-N-Furter figure stands on a red circular base featuring his name and the Rocky Horror logo. It depicts the character in his signature outfit, including a black corset, fishnet stockings, black briefs, a pearl necklace and high-heeled platform shoes.
The figure also pays tribute to Tim Curry, who played Dr. Frank-N-Furter on stage before making his film debut in the role in The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Celebrating iconic characters
The stage musical, created by actor and writer Richard O’Brien, premiered at London’s Royal Court Theatre in June 1973. Inspired by B-movie science fiction and horror films, the production went on to become a cultural phenomenon and spawned the 1975 film adaptation.
“We’re excited to launch this Kickstarter campaign to produce the first Rocky Horror Show Bobbleheads celebrating the iconic characters that so many people have come to know and love,” said Phil Sklar, co-founder and CEO of the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. “These bobbleheads are the perfect way for fans of ‘Rocky Horror’ to show off their love for their favorite characters.”
