Sambro reports a decrease of 10% in carbon emissions

The globl toy supplier Sambro International has reported a significant reduction  of 10% in its overall scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions across its UK and EMEA offices.

In 2023 Sambro wants to achive an additional 5% of further reductions.

Sambro has taken an extensive look at its carbon footprint this year, updating previous metrics to ensure to achieve their sustainability goals.

Based on 2019, the company is happy to announce a 64% reduction in emissions from road transport and a 45% reduction in emissions from electricity consumption.

While emissions from other Scope 1 areas (fuel, refrigerant gases) have increased slightly, a 10% reduction in combined Scope 1 and Scope 2

emissions builds on an overall downward trend that the company continues to drive.

To reduce carbon emissions, Sambro has made targeted efforts to reduce energy consumption at its sites in the UK and EMEA, such as mass changes

to warehouse lighting and outdoor spotlights at the UK headquarters, and a sweep of all facilities to identify unused equipment and machinery.

Education and engagement of all employees on equipment use, energy consumption and contribution to the company's ESG strategy is also high on the agenda.

In addition, Sambro's UK headquarters in Bury has switched to renewable energy so that 100% of its electricity now comes from renewable sources.

To achieve further savings and meet its goal of reducing carbon emissions by an additional 5% by 2023, Sambro is also reviewing its heating systems and

plans to review its waste and water consumption, seeking for improvements with its current service providers.
