Sega and Rovio Entertainment expand partnership with WildBrain
SEGA, together with Rovio Entertainment, is expanding its partnership with WildBrain CPLG to include licensing rights for Angry Birds across Europe (excluding some countries), the Middle East, and South Korea. Building on its existing work with SEGA properties like Sonic the Hedgehog, WildBrain CPLG will develop a wide-ranging licensing program covering categories such as publishing, apparel, toys, collectibles, FMCG, and home products.
Over 5 billion downloads
Angry Birds remains a major global franchise, with more than 5 billion downloads and 33 million social media followers. Its growth is expected to accelerate further with the release of The Angry Birds Movie 3 on December 23, 2026. The film continues the successful series and features returning stars Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, and Danny McBride, alongside new cast members including Emma Myers, Keke Palmer, and guest appearances such as MrBeast.
Strengthen licensing efforts
SEGA highlights that the expanded agreement will strengthen licensing efforts in key markets and support product launches tied to the upcoming film. WildBrain CPLG adds that the program will combine the brand’s nostalgic appeal with fresh opportunities to engage new audiences, paving the way for a new wave of Angry Birds merchandise worldwide.
