Spielwarenmesse eG becomes supporting member of Fair Toys Organization
Spielwarenmesse eG is the latest supporting member of the Fair Toys Organization (FTO). This was launched in 2020 as a multi-stakeholder initiative for improving social and environmental standards in the supply chain of the toy industry. Long-standing and well-known exhibitors at the Spielwarenmesse, such as Haba, Heunec, Sigikid and Zapf Creation, are among the founding members. "The supply chain due diligence law takes all companies to task. The Fair Toys Organization offers approaches on how companies can meet their obligations. Spielwarenmesse is an important intermediary in the industry for this," explains Maik Pflaum, FTO board member, head of the foreign division at the Romero Initiative and a city councilor in Nuremberg.
The first steps towards cooperation between the two partners based in the Franconian metropolis were taken at this year's Spielwarenmesse, where FTO was represented for the first time with its own stand. "With our sponsoring membership, we are happy to support the transparency of social and environmental issues, which should be a matter of course for employers worldwide," says Christian Ulrich, Spokesman of the Executive Board of Spielwarenmesse eG.
Spielwarenmesse eG is the latest supporting member of the Fair Toys Organization (FTO). This was founded in 2020 as a multi-stakeholder goal of the FTO stakeholders, who are made up of the toy industry and civil society, is to award a credible seal to comprehensively responsible companies at the end of a verification process. "We are pleased that Spielwarenmesse eG is sending a clear
signal to the toy industry about human rights due diligence by joining," sums up Helga Riedl, FTO board member, representative of the City of Nuremberg, Nuremberg Fair Toys Alliance.
