Spirit of Play Foundation: strong support from exhibitors
Spielwarenmesse eG and its Spirit of Play Foundation received strong support from exhibitors at this year’s Spielwarenmesse, enabling the donation of three 20-foot containers filled with toys and games to social organisations in Germany and Austria. The products were officially handed over on 21 May.
Donated products
Part of the donation was presented by Christian Ulrich, Member of the Executive Board and spokesperson of Spielwarenmesse eG, to the Neulichtenhof Family Centre in Nuremberg, one of 30 facilities operated by Kinderhaus Nürnberg. The donated products include educational toys, games promoting physical activity and creativity, and board games designed to encourage shared experiences and child development.
A further large donation was given to the Dortmund-based charity Kinderlachen e. V., which distributed the toys to social welfare organisations in Germany and Austria, including Kindeswohl-Berlin, Nestwärme Berlin and Kindertafel Tirol. Kinderlachen managed the logistics and delivery process with support from logistics provider Kühne + Nagel and students from DHBW Ravensburg.
Reaching more than 6,000 children
Since its launch in autumn 2024, the Spirit of Play Foundation has collaborated with social organisations and aid projects worldwide. So far, around 6,000 children in the DACH region, as well as in India and Brazil, have received toy donations. According to Christian Ulrich, the initiative highlights the toy industry’s strong commitment to supporting children through play, creativity and personal development.
